Mercer County Community College (MCCC) and the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) have signed a new agreement that will provide opportunities for students with associate degrees to earn their bachelor’s degree in engineering from NJIT at MCCC’s West Windsor campus.

“This partnership is all about building on the strengths of both institutions,” said Dr. Jianping Wang, president of Mercer County Community College. “NJIT has the number one Engineering program in the state of New Jersey. Now we are bringing their quality programs to our campus.”

Under the agreement, students who earn their associate degree in Engineering Science from Mercer will be able to transfer 67 credits toward a Civil Engineering from NJIT. Students must have a 2.5 grade point average or higher to qualify, and do not have to have attended MCCC.

NJIT will require an additional 66 college credits to complete the bachelor’s degree program. Fifty-five of those credits can be earned on the MCCC campus, while five must be earned on NJIT’s main campus in Newark. An additional six credit hours can be earned online or on-site at NJIT.

“We want to grow this relationship on your campus,” said Dr. Fadi Deek, provost and senior executive vice president at NJIT, noting that additional agreements are in the works. “This is the right time with the right partner.”

This bachelor’s degree partnership with NJIT is the fifth for Mercer’s University Center, which currently hosts bachelor’s degree programs on the West Windsor campus with William Paterson University, Rutgers University, Farleigh Dickinson University, and Felician College.
