
A recent study commissioned by the National Association of Veteran-Serving Organizations reported that 48 percent of transitioned service members found their transition to civilian jobs to be more difficult than expected.
The Provident Bank Foundation has awarded a $10,000 grant to the Thomas Edison State University Foundation in support of the University’s Military and Veteran Portal (MVP), and more specifically, it’s Career Enhancement Initiative. The Initiative is intended to connect military and veteran users with career advising and specific job opportunities based on their interests and military training. It is expected to provide successful transitions to post-military careers for nearly 500 veterans who are projected to take part.

As 2017 draws to a close, it is time for us to reflect on the progress we have made and the challenges ahead of us. A few weeks ago, my office hosted an event entitled, “65 by ’25… Many Paths, One Future: The Equity Imperative,” at the Educational Testing Service (ETS) in Princeton. We heard an enlightening address from Dr. Michael T. Nettles, ETS senior vice president for research, and recognized four New Jersey programs for excellence and equity in education.
